During a trial match on Saturday, 21st February, Jacek “Yak” McLaurin was seriously injured in a tackle that resulted in him landing on his head. He was airlifted to hospital, where doctors confirmed he had sustained a severe spinal injury.
 
Jacek suffered fractures to his C4 and C5 vertebrae and is currently without feeling from the shoulders down. He has undergone multiple surgeries and remains in hospital as he begins what will be a long and challenging recovery journey.
 
Yak is the founder of the Dawgs Nines team, who claimed the 9PL Championship in 2025. We felt this Dawgs helmet was a fitting way to represent him and everything he’s built.
